Blue Fairy Mini Junk Journal

While reading Alisa Golden’s, Making Handmade Books: 100+ Bindings, Structures & Forms, I came across the snake book. The original structure was devised by Scott McCarney (39).

The design and layout work perfectly for all. Those one-sided scrapbook papers I have stashed away. One 12” x 12” scrapbook paper and a 4.25” x 6.25” scrap of paper, a little glue, and you have a small book with pockets.

Really any size of paper can be used. Just figure out the math for the size. It's a great junk journaling idea!

What do you need?

1 – 12” x 12” scrapbook paper

1 – 4.25” x 6.5” a scrap of paper

String

1. Score the 12” x 12” scrapbook page.

2. Fold and Crease on Score lines

3. Cut on Dotted Lines

4. Start at #1, fold over to the left, 2 under, 3 over, 4 under, 5 over, and continue to 12.

5. Mark the TOP on the 1 page and put a paperclip at the top of 1.

6. Cut out notches for easier use.

6. Glue 2-3 with top open, 4-5 with side open, 6-7 with top open, 8-9 with side open, 10-11 with top open.

8. Cut another piece 4.25" x 6.25".

9. Score at 3 1/8" and 3 3/8".

10. Cut 2 pieces of string, lace, etc., to 7".

11. Glue one piece of string 2.25" from the top on the right side.

12. Then, place glue on the front of the text block with the lace on the right.

13. With the piece of 4.25" x 6.25" facing up, place the right side on the top of the text block marked the top.

14. Do not put glue on the spine.

15. Repeat step 12 and 13 for the backside.

16. Decorate with ephemera and other decorations.
